Do we make floating docks?
We are currently in the design process of developing floating docks. We're hoping to have a floating system ready for production by 2016.
Will I ever need to get into the water to install or remove my Canadian Smart Dock?
While in most circumstances, after initial set-up, your days of putting on your waders and getting in and out of the lake are over! However, there may be isolated situations where you may be required to get wet. For example, if your dock is located in an area with an extremely mucky bottom, the feet on the dock may sink through the course of the summer and get stuck in the muck. This would require a person to get in the water and lift the end of the dock up out of the muck. These situations are rare however.
What kind of work is required for initial installation?
The first time you set up your Canadian Smart Dock requires just a little extra work in order to ensure everything is level and secure. Each dock section comes with two 6' support legs that will need to be cut to length once the section is leveled out. This process will require two people, with at least one getting into the water to raise or lower the end of the section on the support legs.
In addition to leveling out the dock sections, the base of your docking system that transfers the first dock section from land to water will need to be set. Depending on your preference and whether the base will be permanent or seasonal, this can be set with stakes, limestone screening, patio slabs or even concrete.
Can you set up initial installation for me?
While the initial set-up is relatively simple, we understand that time spent relaxing with friends and family is precious. If you prefer to have us come to your location and perform the initial set-up ourselves, we would be happy to come out and provide you with a quote.
How much does a dock section weigh?
Depending on the length that the legs have been cut to, the aluminum frame weighs anywhere between 50-65 lbs. Each dock section includes 3 segments of decking weighing less than 35lbs.
Do you have a showroom where I can see a Canadian Smart Dock?
Currently, we do not have a showroom. We operate out of a manufacturing shop in Peterborough, Ontario. We do typically have a booth at local cottage and boating trade shows, where you can see the quality of our product for yourself.
What is your delivery time?
Depending on the size of your order, the time of year and how busy we are, we can usually have your order ready for you within 4-6 weeks. Please contact us for delivery times and pricing.
Into what depth of water can your docks be used?
Our standard dock legs can sit in water as deep as 6 feet. Please contact us to inquire about some deep-water options.
What size of dock can you make?
Each section of dock is 5' wide by 8' long. Sections can be attached together to make your dock as long as you desire. Our Platform section is a 9.5' by 9.5' octagon consisting of two sections.
